Mathieu Jacomy

Description

Mathieu Jacomy is an engineer from the University of Technology of
Compiègne, and has a master in humanities. He is specialized in web
mapping.
He is a founding member of the WebAtlas association with Franck Ghitalla. At
WebAtlas he developed his first tools for exploring the web, including
the Navicrawler (sourcing of web corpuses).
At the ICT & Migrations research project (Maison des Sciences de l'Homme) with
Dana Diminescu, he initiated the Gephi project (graph visualization)
and developed digital methods to help sociologists to investigate the
web.
In the médialab, he now participates to the web-mining package of the
Trust project (trust in economy), with Yann Algan.
Technician as well as a scholar, he understands the methodological
issues specifically addressed by humanities, and builds with social scientists
tools that fulfill their very needs.
